MK12 SPR Shoot, 5/22/11 DeLand, FL

by 15. May 2011 03:06

For a few years I have been wanting to organize an SPR theme shoot for those of us with Precision AR's. I had always had trouble finding a range with both space for people showing up, and sufficient distance to make a get together like this interesting. Sean at Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club has both and has agreed to host this event.

VCGHC Range
May 22
11am - 5pm
$20 per person

There is a Knights Armament SPR FF RAS as a door prize, other prizes to be awarded for small competitive sections of the day include an Ops Inc collar and muzzle brake, Otis 7.62/5.56 Cleaning Kit, KAC single piece 30mm scope mount, MK12 Military manuals and more.

Sean said we will have his long rifle range to ourselves, I believe the max distance is 300 yards. This will be primarily a casual event, but there will be a couple small competitive events over the course of the day that will have prizes. Competetive portions will include:

BEST CLONE
BEST 10 SHOT GROUP AT 100
BEST 10 SHOT GROUP AT 300
BSA (ballance of spped and accuracy) DRILL WITH TARGETS FROM 50 YARDS TO 300

High Caliber Sales has sent an authentic Mod1 upper which will be available for sale. P.R.I. will be sending an authentic Mod0 upper which will also be available for sale. Noveske has sent their 18" switchblock SPR upper, and B.C.M. has sent one of their MK12 Mod 3 upper, both of which will also be available for sale.

There will also be two authentic military MK12 Mod0 uppers available to view at the event. These were actual uppers that were in use by the military, but turned in to PRI be upgraded.

I love the SPR platform but do not get a chance to shoot my scoped rifles as much as I do my carbines. Many of my friends and customers have said the same. My hope is for this shoot to provide space and opportunity people to enjoy their scoped AR's around people who own similar guns. For those of you who may not be entirely familiar with what an SPR, or MK12 Mod 0 or MK12 Mod 1 is, please reference this long running thread, or the MK12.net web sight.

We are not limiting this event to specific SPR clones, but this is a precision AR event. I would like to limit it to guns with 18" or longer barrels and mid to higher powered magnified optics. 223/5.56, 6.8, .308 AR style platform guns are welcome. I wouldn't be throwing people with bolt guns or Recce Rifles (typically 16" barrel guns with low power magnified optics) off the range, but I am asking people to respect the spirit of the event, and the rifles it is in honor of. If you see this thread and would like to participate and I have not or have not yet contacted you, please be in touch with me. Please use my WORK EMAIL ADDRESS listed below. I check it MUCH more frequently than my AR15.com email address. Thanks!
