Not too long ago myself and Rob were invited to take the Smith & Wesson M&P armorers course hosted by RSR group. We had a great time at the class. I learned quite a few things about the M&P and some of the changes they've had over the years. Interesting things to note. The M&P polymer frame has a metal substructure that makes it a little stiffer than most pistols out there. The melonite finish is IIRC 68 on the rockwell hardness scale, and is very similar to Glocks Tenifer finish. The guide rod is steel not plastic. I'm a big fan of the M&P's sights which are metal, go to the rear of the slide, and have a notch for one handed manipulations. I like the ergonomics of the grip and I also like the adjustable back straps. The front of the slide is tapered for quicker and easier reholstering. The list goes on but those are some of the top things I noted. During lunch RSR was kind enough to treat us to Longhorn steakhouse. Usually we would just get some pizza so it was pretty awesome to have nice lunch and sit down with other guys from the industry and talk shop. Overall it was a very positive experience and learning occured.

Starting out this was all the tools given to us for the armorers course.

Rob taking off the sights.

Completely disassembled slide.

Rob Disassembling the lower.

Parts and pieces from the lower.

Rob assembling the frame
